weekend at the beach

Ben and I joined my family for a weekend at Hilton Head Island. It was lovely to dig my toes in the sand, introduce my two-year-old niece to the waves, watch my niece & nephew build sandcastles, and soak up a little sun (though we accidently overdid a little bit and got sunburns! eek)

we saw dolphins swimming by, lots of birds, crabs and jellyfish…and if you ask my nephew we also saw sharks and whales who were all trying to eat us. isn’t everything an adventure when you see it through the eyes of a child? it’s good to be filled with wonder at the world all over again.

hope your weekend was lovely too!

I’m currently in a panic because…remember how I was trying to learn cambodian? well I haven’t been extremely faithful, but I was doing alright (on lesson 8 out of 30. I had originally counted out that I’d be finished with lesson 30 by April if I did one lesson a week but that obviously didn’t happen!), and this morning my free audio was taken offline. (thanks Yale.) if I can’t find it elsewhere I’m going to have to pick a new language because i’d be hopeless trying to study without the audio files. if I had to choose another I would probably go for something less obscure…spanish? german? french??

This looks like the perfect day at the beach! It’s just warming up here so I can’t help but wish I could splash around in the waves too :)

I kind of love that you were trying to learn Cambodian! But you’re right- it might be easier to stick with it if you choose a more common language. I’ve been thinking about learning French- maybe we could be language buddies!

I would love a french buddy! I’m so intimidated with the thought of starting over with a new language…but it would definitely help to have a support system of friends who are also trying to learn!

I know a lot of people who already speak cambodian but it’s been difficult to take advantage of that when I am still such a beginner!

I can’t wait to do this with my niece and nephew in three weeks. Where did you get your little hat? I love that.

TJ Maxx…I’m totally in love with sun hats this year! It has been a few weeks since I picked it up but hopefully they’d still have a good selection.
