Three years ago today I married Ben. Today I’m most especially thankful for my mom’s help in every detail of my wedding. I’m so glad she got to be there with me, guiding me through each decision. She calmed me through the stress and made sure we stopped for our 3:00 afternoon snack break each day (usually sweet tea and a pastry) during the last very busy month of planning. We did the whole thing together, and it was as much her day as it was ours—something I’ve rolled my eyes about (lovingly) a little bit in the past. But this year I say it proudly. It was a beautiful day, and I’m happy it was everything my mom wanted.
