Ever since July 4th I’ve been obsessed with red. It’s on my toenails right now and making a frequent appearance in my wardrobe. Red of course is that classic holiday color we pull out in the wintertime, but it has the perfect mid-summer nautical vibe too. What I really need now is a good classic pair of red heels and the perfect red dress…I’m still on the hunt.

What do you think about red? Oh, and I should mention that red is my kitchen color of choice. So in that sense I’ve adored it for a long time. Now that my kitchen is filled I guess I should work on my closet.

grey has been my new favorite neutral for awhile now…and I love that you can charcoal it up in the fall or tone it down for summer. it’s so versatile, you really can’t go wrong.

Julia and I have been working hard on the studio and collecting some great display pieces from salvage & antique shops. I really can’t wait to share it with you. We’ll be around Thursday night (June 23) for the girls night out hosted by our lovely studio neighbor Stylebybecca and we plan to have things ready-ish if you want to get a sneak preview of our space! I’ll give you some more information about that next week.

Also, I’m excited to share that the very talented Christin O’Bryan will be our guest artist for the grand opening. I’ll be sure to show you some of her amazing handmade books and cards soon.

Any fun weekend plans? I’m heading to the Greenville global etsy party at Dapper Ink tonight and plan to work on a paper garland for the studio (hopefully I’ll have a fun DIY for that to share soon). I have a pretty quiet weekend planned… ben has been in some pain from the sunburn he picked up at the beach last weekend so he wants to stay inside. so I’m thinking reading and working on my porch garden sounds good! and we might hit up the Greek Festival in town and grab some amazing food! what plans do you have?

I’m heading to Hilton Head Island this weekend for some much needed fun-in-the-sun with my family! In honor of that I decided to crush on “sand” this week…a really fantastic summer neutral. I think it’s a great alternative to the darker browns, and something that can have a little more personality than cream or white. what’s your opinion?

orange is a color I don’t have to try to have a crush on. if I have a color choice I’ll usually grab the orange! (unless of course pink is available). It’s so versatile…cheerful and bright for summer, warm and cozy in darker, pumpkin spice-y shades for fall, and in softer, lighter hues orange can fit in with all of your early spring pastels.

and as an added bonus, I will decorate all over with orange, whereas pink is more my favorite color to wear. I don’t have a single bit of pink accessorizing my apartment. so orange wins the overall awesome category in so many ways.

I admit I’m not a huge fan of lavender. give me any other shade of purple and I’m in love, but lavender has never done much for me. It seems to be making a big splash right now, and I did find some lavender lovelies I’m rather fond of to share…

ps. did anyone else get up to watch the royal wedding? I went to a viewing party at a friend’s house. it was really wonderful, and I did love all the pomp and circumstance. I’m drinking coffee like it’s going out of style now though!
