There are tons of other sock bun tutorials out there, so I don’t want to add to the growing list, but I thought it would be fun to share, since I’ve been sporting this style so often lately.

I cut the toe off of a pair of panty hose instead of a traditional sock, because my hair is thin and light and I thought it might blend better.

You just have to start with your hair in a high ponytail.

Wrap and tuck all of your hair around your sock donut.

Keep tucking it down towards your head until you have all your hair wrapped around the sock. It’s as easy as that!

Each one is hand-felted using a traditional wet-felting process—scrubbed with soap and boiling water—wrapped in lace, with beads and/or pearls delicately embroidered into the felt. These sparkle with a handcrafted vintage flair that will dress up your most casual shorts & tee or add just the right touch to the prettiest dress you picked from your closet for a summer wedding.

Start by pulling your hair into a side ponytail. Add a few bobby pins if needed.

Now wrap it into a messy bun. This can be in the same step as the ponytail, using the same hair band, or a different step, depending on how thick your hair is.

Now loosen it a little bit.

Make a little “hole” in the center above your messy bun.

And flip your messy bun up and tuck it through the hole.

I love styles that more complicated than they really are, don’t you?

Happy weekend!!!! I have a busy one in store. We are participating in Hands on Greenville Day, a community work day. We’ll be joining a group from Ben’s work painting a nursing home. And then on Sunday I’ll be going to help a local photographer with a bridal shoot, so that should be really exciting.

And my old studio neighbor Crave is having a one-year birthday celebration. I’m so happy to join her in celebrating this milestone for her studio space!

Last year we decided to try and visit as many National Parks as we can, which is a great jumping point when deciding where to travel within the United States. On our trip out West last fall, we headed to Colorado and South Dakota. One of the places we stopped is the Badlands National Park. The amazing rock structures are so majestic…and a little bit creepy. It kind of made us feel like we were wandering around on the surface of the moon. It was a super cool experience!

This year, we’re thinking Pacific Northwest…I’ll share more specific details about our plans as they solidify. But I’m SO excited about what we have in mind already.

Start with a side part, and a small french braid on both sides of the part. Angle these french braid back towards your ears, away from your face, and keep it flat against your head. You don’t have to continue the “french” part of adding in more hair for very long. I only added new pieces of hair to my braids 2 times.

Tie the end into a side ponytail, capturing the two braids you just made. Then split your ponytail into three sections and begin to braid these.

Tie the three braids together with a ponytail holder.

And you are done! How simple is that?

I added a couple of extra random ponytail holders just for fun, in my navy and light blue color scheme :)
